In December 2008, 12 Tampa Bay area community singers performed PCC Chorale’s first Christmas concert.
Nearly eleven years later, our chorale averages 25-35 singers per concert!
We are an inclusive group of men and women—a mix of ages, races, religions, and varying abilities to read music, but each of us strive toward excellence in our performances.
Our singers have included accountants, college students, engineers, homemakers, nurses, pastors, retired military, as well as professional musicians, but we all share an enthusiastic passion for singing multi-part choral music.
During the past 11 years, the Chorale’s maturation into one of the leading secular adult ensembles in the Plant City/Brandon/Valrico area is evident by our growing audiences and increasing generous supporters!
To join the Chorale, a new singer must demonstrate to the Artistic Director his or her ability to match pitches and rhythms, sing in tune, and be amenable about singing in the section determined by the Artistic Director, based on your voice and the Chorale’s need. You may prepare your own a cappella piece, but your rendition of GOD BLESS AMERICA is sufficient.
Our mission is to provide cultural, educational, musical, and social experiences which enrich our members, audiences, and communities. Under our Artistic Director, Members have the opportunity–each concert–to discover more of the art of singing, enhance their performance craft, and deepen their understanding of choral principles.
PCC Chorale has been invited to perform at such diverse venues as:
1st United Methodist Church of Plant City, The Camellia Rose Tea Room, Church on the Rock, Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church, Eastside Baptist Church, the Friends of the Spring’s Domestic Violence Vigil, Plant City’s Community Good Friday service, Relay for Life, EPCOT Theme Park’s Candlelight Massed Choir at Walt Disney World, as well as several Plant City residential communities such as The Lakes at CountryWood, The Paddocks, The Meadows at CountryWood, and Lazy Days RV Campground in Seffner.
PCC Chorale became a 501(c)(3) organization January 1, 2011. This non-profit status allows us to receive tax-free donations and sponsorships.
Because we are a community choral organization, we pride ourselves in repaying our growing, loyal audiences and supporting businesses by participating in area events such as those sponsored by the Plant City Chamber of Commerce, United Food Bank of Plant City, performances at the lighting ceremony of the Plant City’s community Christmas Lights in McCall Park, and singing at senior living facilities.
The Chorale is governed by Member-approved bylaws, and its on-going business is conducted by a Member-elected Executive Board. The voting members of this Board are the Executive Director, Secretary, and Treasurer.
The Artistic Director and the Events Manager advise and report to the Board, but are not voting members.
